The travel guide and information website Roughguides has released a list of the 10 best places to travel as student, in which Vietnam was suggested as an attractive spot for foodie adventure.
According to the website, the big cities like HaNoi and Ho Chi Minh city are frenetic but fun, and the countryside offers enchanting landscapes. Plus, with its tantalizing mix of sweet, salty, spicy and sour, Vietnamese food is sure to tickle anyone’s taste buds.
Nuoc mam (fermented fish sauce) is used heavily, as are chilli peppers, calamansi citrus fruit, sugar cane and tamarind.
“Don’t miss goi cuon, delicious spring rolls stuffed with vegetables, coriander, and your choice of pork, shrimp or crab,” Roughguides stressed.
Other recommended places to spend student breaks include: Albania (for beaches); Madrid, Spain (for nightlife); Croatia (for island life); Slovenia (for making friends); Morocco (for the great outdoors); Rajasthan, India (for bucket-list experiences); Cuba (for local culture); Colombia (for a big backpacking trip); and Northern Territory, Australia (for a working holiday).
