In August, Vietnam experiences hot and humid weather throughout the country. The northern regions, including Hanoi and Halong Bay, experience temperatures between 28-35°C (82-95°F) with occasional rain showers. Central regions, such as Da Nang and Hoi An, have average temperatures ranging from 30-35°C (86-95°F) with higher humidity levels. The southern parts, including Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta, are hot and humid with temperatures ranging from 30-40°C (86-104°F) and occasional heavy rainfall. It is important to note that August falls within the wet season in Vietnam, so travelers should expect occasional thunderstorms and plan accordingly.
What to expect if you travel to Vietnam in August
In many countries, August is the finish-off month for the summer and it is no difference in Vietnam. Many families take off to domestic destinations to round off their holiday though to a lesser extent compared with June and July. International airfares remain high so if you are on a budget, book the trip for early September instead of late August.
